Easter Weekend
On Saturday me and a friend from London hit Burrator. One blue trout and two rainbows were landed, we kept a pair for the BBQ and released the third. A hot headed damsel gave us most of the days sport.

River Tavy, Abbey Bridge
Had my first session on the Tavy last night for this year. Being too early for any descent head of Sea Trout or Salmon/Grilse I was just fishing for the local brownies. Just off from Tavistock town square is Abbey Bridge, you can jump over a small stone wall just up from the bridge behind the local pannier market and make you way down to the bridge from there.
Wading was ok, the water isn't very deep but there are a lot of rocks and boulders to naviagate past. After only 10 casts at most on a black hares ear I was into a fish, and turned out to be the biggest trout I've caught in this particular river, a modest 12/13" but fairly round for its size, it was a good start. After just over an hour I had only managed one more fairly small brownie and after moving back up the river for a few last casts I had a hefty take but the little bugger didn't stay on, it felt like a descent fish but we'll never know.
It was getting fairly dark so I decided to call it a night, and so there I am on the bank breaking my rod down and this huge fish swims by me breaking through the water as to say catch me if you can, i watch it swim up some rocky shallows breaking through intermittently and then off into night. It was a right time right place moment and just affirms my opinion that the Tavy can hold some real monster-sized Salmon and Sea Trout.

Welcome
This blog is all about fly fishing the Tamar River and its tributaries. If you like fishing for Salmon & Trout this blog might be of interest to you. Along side traditional game fishing I aim to show what other species have become popular to catch on the fly, so expect to see the odd carp and pike adventure posted on here!
